Wallpaper Installation in Atlanta

Short version: yes, we hang wallpaper. Powder rooms, accent walls, stairwells, papered ceilings, grasscloth and full murals. Our wallpaper installs are handled by Lew Wayne Poirier, a dedicated wallpaper installer we trust with exactly this kind of detail work.

Lew books wallpaper jobs directly. The fastest way to get started is to send Lew a request with photos of the room and a link to the paper you like.

Wallpaper is back, and not the faded borders from 1994. People are papering powder rooms in bold botanicals, wrapping reading nooks walls and ceiling in one print, and putting grasscloth in dining rooms. Done right, it is one of the biggest visual changes you can make to a room in a single visit.

Done wrong, it is also one of the easiest to spot. Mismatched seams, bubbles, crooked patterns on an out of square wall and edges peeling at the corners all show up from across the room. That is why we hand our wallpaper work to a specialist.

What a Good Wallpaper Install Involves

Prep the Walls

Old paper comes down, cracks and nail holes get patched, and the wall gets a primer made for wallpaper so it holds now and releases cleanly later.

Plan the Layout

The pattern gets centered on the wall people see first, and the least visible corner is chosen for the final seam, where the pattern has to break.

Hang and Match

Every strip is matched to the pattern repeat and plumbed, because Atlanta walls and ceilings are rarely perfectly straight, especially in older homes.

Trim and Finish

Edges are trimmed tight to trim, outlets and ceilings, cover plates go back on, and the room is cleaned up.

Before You Order Your Paper

  1. Send Lew the link first. Roll width, pattern repeat and paper type all change how many rolls you need and how the install goes.
  2. Measure every wall. Width and height of each wall you want covered, plus the ceiling if it is part of the plan.
  3. Order from one batch. Rolls from different print runs (dye lots) can be slightly different colors. Buy everything at once and keep a little extra for future repairs.
  4. Leave it in the box. Do not open or cut the rolls before install day.
  5. Photograph the room. Wide shots of each wall plus close ups of any damage, old paper or texture.

Powder Rooms

The most popular wallpaper project. Small room, big impact, and usually one visit.

Accent and Stair Walls

One bold wall behind a bed, a desk or up a staircase. Tall stair walls take extra setup.

Ceilings, Grasscloth and Murals

Papered ceilings, natural grasscloth and panel murals all need extra planning. Mention them up front.

Wallpaper Installation FAQ

Do you install wallpaper I already bought?

Yes. Most customers pick their own paper, and that is the easiest way to get exactly the look you want. Send Lew the product link or a photo of the label before you order to confirm the roll size, pattern repeat and how much you need.

How much wallpaper should I order?

Measure the width and height of every wall you want covered and send those numbers with the product link. Large pattern repeats waste more paper at every seam, so the right count depends on the paper itself. Order everything from the same batch (dye lot) and plan on a little extra for matching and for future repairs.

Can you put wallpaper on a ceiling?

Yes. Papered ceilings, sloped attic ceilings and stairwells are all in the gallery above. Ceilings and tall stair walls take more setup time than a flat wall, so mention them up front when you send Lew photos.

What about peel and stick wallpaper?

Lew hangs traditional pasted and unpasted papers, grasscloth, murals and peel and stick. Peel and stick is easiest to remove later, but it is less forgiving on textured or freshly painted walls, so it helps to tell Lew what you are considering before you buy.

Do my walls need to be prepped first?

Usually some. Wallpaper shows every bump, crack and nail hole under it. Old paper may need to come down, damaged drywall gets patched, and the wall gets primed so the new paper sticks now and comes off cleanly years from now. Lew will tell you what your walls need after seeing photos.

How long does a wallpaper install take?

A powder room or a single accent wall is often one visit. Larger rooms, ceilings, murals and rooms that need old paper removed or drywall repairs first can take longer. Fresh primer may need to dry before the paper goes up.
