East Lake Handyman Services
Golf-Club-Era Homes, Newer Townhomes & Everything In Between
East Lake grew up around its golf club in the 1910s through 1940s, and much of that housing is still here: brick and frame cottages, bungalows and Tudor-influenced homes on tree-heavy lots. The mid-1990s rebuilding of the neighborhood added the Villages of East Lake and a wave of newer townhomes and infill. Two very different kinds of houses, two different repair lists, one crew that knows both.

What We Typically Repair in East Lake
Homeowners in brick houses are sometimes surprised by how much wood they own. Fascia boards behind the gutters, soffits under the eaves, window frames and sills, porch beams and columns, and the trim around doors are all wood, and on a house built between 1910 and 1940 that wood has been wet many thousands of times. The tell-tale sign is peeling paint on fascia and sills; by the time it peels, the board underneath has usually started to soften. We replace fascia in sections, rebuild sills and reset gutters so the water goes where it should.
Tree cover is part of what makes East Lake pleasant and part of what keeps us busy: shaded siding stays damp, gutters fill with leaves and overflow onto fascia, and limbs rub on roof edges and trim. A gutter clean-out and a fascia check together, once or twice a year, prevents most of the rot repairs we do here.
In the newer townhomes and infill houses the list is what you’d expect from construction that has had a few years to settle: hairline cracks at drywall corners, nail pops, interior doors that need adjusting, caulk that has pulled away from tubs and trim, and the mounting, shelving and closet work of people making a house their own.

Look up before you call
Stand across the street and look at the fascia line under the gutters. Peeling paint, dark streaks or a sag in the gutter means water has been running over the edge. Send us that photo along with any soft spots at window sills; we can usually estimate fascia and sill repair from it.
Fix the water path with the wood
Replacing a rotted fascia board without fixing the gutter that rotted it means doing the job twice. We reset gutter hangers and end caps and check downspout discharge as part of the repair.
Newer townhome? Wait for the settling to finish, then fix it all at once
Most settling cracks appear in the first two to three years. Once they stop growing, one visit to fix cracks, nail pops and door adjustments, then paint, is more economical than chasing them one at a time.

East Lake Handyman FAQs
My brick house has peeling paint under the gutters. Is that a problem?
It usually means the fascia board behind the gutter has been getting wet. Peeling is the first sign; softness is the second. We replace fascia in sections, reset the gutter so it drains properly and paint. Catching it at the peeling stage keeps the job small.
Do you work in the Villages of East Lake townhomes?
Yes. Drywall cracks, nail pops, door adjustments, caulk and mounting work are common requests in townhomes built since the mid-1990s. We are used to working within HOA and community guidelines.
What is the trip charge for East Lake?
$50. East Lake (30317 and the 30032 edge) is in our primary service area. Labor is $125 per hour with a one-hour minimum, billed for the time actually worked.
Can you clean gutters as part of a fascia repair?
Yes. We clear the gutters and reset hangers as part of the repair so the new wood isn’t sitting under the same overflow. Recurring gutter cleaning is a good fit for our Monthly Maintenance Plan.
